ONE person was confirmed dead by police and six others — including four children — are now missing after a house collapsed in the raging waters of the Sandy Gully in Sandy Park St Andrew this morning.
The identity of the dead man has not been released.
The incident occurred about four this morning when the occupants were sleeping.
Prime Minister Bruce Golding, flanked by cabinet members Daryl Vaz, Mike Henry and Horace Chang, visited the scene which was cordoned off by police.
A search is now on for the remaining occupants of the ill-fated house which was perched on the banks of the gully in an informal community on Liguanea Avenue.
