ONE man was killed and three others hurt in a three-vehicle crash along the Pepper main road in St Elizabeth yesterday morning.
The dead man has been identified as 32-year-old Rayon Anthony Hinds, a taxi operator of Shiloah District in the parish. Truck driver Neville Plummer, 26, of Chambers Pen in Lucea, Hanover, and a sideman were hospitalised for injuries they received in the accident.
According to the Santa Cruz Police, at around 8:00 am Hinds was driving his white Toyota Succeed motor car along the Pepper road when he collided with an international trailer truck — which was being driven by Plummer — in the vicinity of the Pepper Dairy Farm. Both vehicles were travelling in opposite directions.
The impact of the collision caused the car to overturn and the truck to jackknife before colliding with a white Toyota Townace that was travelling behind it.
The driver of the Townace, Howard Newman, also sustained injuries.
Following the accident, Corporal Novelette James — who is assigned to the Santa Cruz Traffic Department — appealed to motorists to take care on the roads.
"I am appealing to all road users that throughout this time and all other times, drivers need to drive with care and caution and should refrain from speeding," she cautioned
