All those Payless Shoesource shoppers won’t have to board a flight to Miami anymore to take advantage of specials, as Payless is coming to Jamaica. The Observer reports that the popular American chain is now in the island recruiting staff in preparation for the opening of its first store here next year. Michael Stern, the minister of state in the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, confirmed Payless' impending investment in Jamaica, saying it represented a trend. Some of these firms, he said, are American, while others are from within the Caribbean. Stern said he did not have the details of the investment. However, he confirmed that the Payless representatives were working with Jampro to ensure that the investment went smoothly.
