THREE men have been taken into custody following the discovery of several bodies in an open lot on Germaine Road in Portmore, St Catherine, in early December last year.

The men, whose identities are being withheld, were taken into custody on December 30 and were being questioned by detectives from the Transnational Crimes and Narcotics Division and St Catherine South Homicide Unit.

The bodies of three men were found buried in shallow, unmarked graves by police during a two-day operation on December 9 and 10 on a property that police suspect was being used by gangsters to bury their victims.

Two of the bodies have since been identified as that of Clive Reid, 24, otherwise called "Jerky" of Washington Mews and Esmond Morris, 32, of a Cumberland, Portmore address. The third corpse, which was found headless, was still unidentified up to press time.

Police found a head on December 29 which they believe belonged to the unidentified corpse. However, police say further DNA tests will be performed on the body.

Meanwhile, investigators are asking members of the public with information in relation to the discoveries to contact the Transnational Crimes and Narcotics Division at 967-2588, the St Catherine South Homicide Unit at 949-8431, Police 119 emergency number, Crime Stop at 311 or Operation Kingfish at 811.
