AN American tourist was mowed down and his female companion injured after they were hit by a motor car on the West End main road in Negril, Westmoreland last night.
He has been identified as 57-year-old Roy Anthony Stout a computer engineer. The injured woman is Stout's 47-year-old companion, both of Kentucky, USA.
The Negril police report that about 9:30 pm Stout and his companion were walking along the roadway, when the driver of a motor car reportedly lost control of the vehicle which ran off the road and mowed them down.
They were taken to the Savanna-la-Mar General Hospital where Stout was pronounced dead and his companion admitted in critical condition.
A breathalyser test was administered to the driver of the motor car and he was warned for prosecution.
