Manchester successfully put an end to their 2 match losing streak by taking down Arsenal in the FA Cup. That match will give Ferguson’s men plenty of morale and motivation going into their match against the pesky French side. Marseille have not lost a match in their last 10 games except to league leaders Lille.
The good news for Man U fans is that United never lost to a French side in European competition on home soil. But even scoring against Marseille would be quite a feat given that Deschamps side have not allowed a goal in 512 minutes of play in the competition.
On the other hand Manchester United have just conceded one goal in the whole competition this year – which sort of explains the two teams’ stalemate last time around.
With Manchester United out, Berbatov and Rooney will need to be sharper than ever to take advantage of the limited opportunities given to them. But expect Fergy to take a cautious approach to the game with one goal capable of flat lining their Champions League aspirations.
