Two of the five policemen who were implicated in the alleged rape of an exotic dancer at a nightclub in Dam Head, St. Catherine, last month, have been charged.

The two Constables were charged Monday, following a ruling by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

They appeared before the Spanish Town Criminal Court on Tuesday afternoon, where they were each offered $500,000 bail.

Those charged are Constables Sheldon Taylor and Richard Jordon.

Constable Taylor is charged with rape, while Constable Jordon is charged with breaches of the Corruption Prevention Act, following allegations that he approached the victim, through a third party, and offered her $200,000 to drop the case.

In granting bail, the presiding magistrate imposed tough sanctions on Constable Taylor.

He has been ordered to live outside of St. Catherine until the case is decided.

He is also to report to the nearest police station daily, and should not be seen on the street after 7 p.m. and before six a.m.

Constable Jordon was one of the four cops ordered released last week, after the victim failed to identify them at two identification parades.

However, he found himself back in custody on Monday, based on allegations that he offered a bribe to the victim to remain silent.

However, defence attorney, Peter Champagnie, says his client will fight the allegations.

The policemen were taken into custody on February 17, following a report that they gang-raped the dancer at a nightclub in Dam Head, Spanish Town.
