ST JOHN'S, Antigua (CMC) — Police confirmed late Tuesday night that bomb scares had forced the closure of 13 police stations across the island but said no device had been found after a sweep of the areas.
"Nothing was found," said police spokesman William Holder, after Commissioner Vere Browne said he given instructions for all the stations to be evacuated.
Holder confirmed that "investigations are ongoing" and would not elaborate on reports that the bomb scares may have been a prank.
The authorities said that the threatening call came at around 2:16 pm and that in order to avoid a catastrophe, all police ranks, along with prisoners, were evacuated while individual searches of all the stations were conducted.
