The trial of the Canadian man accused of attempting to kill his wife while they were vacating in Jamaica will begin today in the Hanover Circuit Court.
The accused, Paul Martin, is on a $500,000 bail.
Martin is alleged to have attempted to murder his wife Cathy-Lee Clayson while they were on an excursion in Trelawny in December last year.
At a preliminary hearing last December, the woman testified that she and her husband arrived in Jamaica on December 23 for a five-day vacation.
Clayson said on that same day, her husband slashed her throat twice and attempted to strangle her.
She also testified that she and her husband had been having marital problems.
According to Clayson, Martin accused her of cheating on him with a long time friend.
