A trial date for December 8 was set in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday for the matter concerning Dale Isaacs, the police inspector who was taken into custody for breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act after a large portion of compressed ganja was found in his car recently.
At the same time, statements were not served on the defence as was expected which resulted in Isaacs having his bail extended until the trial date.
Isaacs is charged with possession of, dealing in, trafficking and taking steps to export marijuana.
The subofficer, who has over 12 years service in the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), was caught in a sting operation conducted by members of the JCF's Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) last Saturday.
Reports are that on the day of the incident, he was driving along the Mandela Highway about 3 p.m. when his vehicle was intercepted and stopped by ACB detectives.
It is understood that his car was searched and several carton boxes containing packages wrapped in masking tape were found in the trunk of the vehicle. It was later revealed to be compressed ganja weighing approximately 151 pounds.
The inspector, who hails from St Elizabeth and is attached to a Corporate Area police station, was taken into custody and a file compiled and sent to the director of public prosecutions for a ruling.
