The police are now searching for 21-year-old security guard Oneil Salmon who walked out of the holding area downstairs the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday after he was denied bail.
Salmon's escape was disclosed in court yesterday when attorney-at-law Philmore Scott, who is representing him, told the court that Salmon was not in custody. Scott said Salmon telephoned him yesterday and he advised him to turn himself into the police.
It was reported that it was when Scott made the disclosure in court that the police became aware that Salmon was missing and have since launched a search for him.
Salmon, who is charged with carnal abuse, was remanded to return to court on October 12. He was taken to the holding area to await transportation to the Hunts Bay Police Station lock-up. It was reported that Salmon was not handcuffed and while awaiting to be transported to the lock-up, he walked out of the holding area and then boarded a taxi.
