Born Ajay Richards under the Sagittarius sign on the 16th of December,1987, J-Yungg was raised in the rural community of Grange Hill in the parish of Westmoreland where the legendary Peter Tosh spent a significant part of his early childhood.
J-Yungg is good looking,lyrically robust and very versatile. J-Yungg is looked on as a superstar and a idol in his community. He has credited his community for the person he has become "confident yet humble" that's where he learned the harsh reality of life on the streets, and uses his life experiences in a majority of his songs.
J-Yungg was introduced to music by his uncle reggae artist "Carefulone". At age 8 he use to perform on shows in his community with his uncle,shows that would feature entertainers like Ninja Man amongst other known artistes.
His big break came when he linked up with legendary Guitarist Lincoln Thomas 4 years ago. Lincoln then introduced him to David "D-MO" Morris who has produced for Aidonia, Blak Ryno, Spice and numerous others from the House Of Leeds camp. J-Yungg started off rapping but then switched to dancehall in late 2010.
J-Yungg has performed on numerous shows locally and a few internationally including Linkage Radio Awards in New York, where he received a few write ups in the papers for his set. After getting rotations on local and overseas stations for songs like "Moving Up", "Guilty Conscience" and "Nuh Boy Cyaa" he has started to make a name for himself on the dancehall/reggae scene.
