Broadcaster Fae Ellington has resigned as interim station manager of NewsTalk 93 FM, three days after she was appointed to the post. In a four-paragraph news release yesterday, Ellington gave a chronology of the events, saying that her decision was based on advice from her lawyers after she was defamed by publications in the media, among them NewsTalk 93 FM, the University of the West Indies-owned and operated radio station. "On Wednesday, August 11, 2010 I was appointed as interim manager of NewsTalk 93 FM," Ellington said. "On Friday, August 13, 2010 there were a series of publications in the media inclusive of NewsTalk 93 FM which were defamatory of me," she added. "On the advice of my attorneys-at-law, it is in the best interest of myself and the University of the West Indies that I no longer be interim station manager." Ellington then said she resigned the position on Saturday, August 14.
