The experience in the band was great but the Carnival route SUCKED! As you turned the corner by the Brooklyn Museum/library the trucks had to lower the music and then shut it off. Like there was NO freedom. This is not a Parade this is suppose to be CARNIVAL and the NYC cops and politicians treat it like it's the dam Puerto Rican or Macy's parade. Also, what is going on with the cut off time for carnival?
Every year we seem to be getting less and less time, soon the cut off time will be 3:00 PM! Could you imagine that after paying your money for a costume then going through all the CHAOS to get on the Parkway, the shit is over before you could get on the toilet bowl.
The owners of carnival in Brooklyn should stand up to the Cops and POLITRICIANS, we brag about the 2-3 million people that come to the Parkway but we don't seem to leverage the power politically, economically, culturally or socially.
The West Indian American Day carnival Association need to step up to the plate and do something for the Mass bands and revelers, if not everyone will be going to Miami, Toronto, ETC for Carnival. The police, the carnival committee and the politicians can parade down Eastern Parkway themselves.
