Two people are now homeless after a section of their four bedroom concrete house collapsed at Windsor in West Portland following torrential rain, which pelted the eastern parish yesterday.
Fifty-eight-year-old Trevor Morrison Moore, one of the occupants of the house said he was lucky as he had just stepped out and was returning when the incident occurred.
"I was at home shortly after 7 o' clock yesterday morning," he said. "As a matter of fact, I was lying in bed during the heavy rainfall, but decided to run an errand. I had just got back, when I heard a rumbling and other strange sounds, and shortly after a section of the house tumbled over.Water from the roadway also flooded the house long before a section of the house broke away."
Moore, who is a tenant at the house, said since work was completed on the road which is close to the house, there has been flooding each time there is a heavy downpour.
