DETECTIVES from the St Catherine South Division investigating two separate shooting incidents in Portmore, St Catherine last night, which left three men dead, one in Darmouth Avenue, Bridgeport and the other two in Caymanas Gardens, Gregory Park.
Dead are: 37-year-old Anthony Johnson, otherwise called ‘Bobby’, of a Mullet Park, Bridgeport address in the parish as well as a Goshen address in St Elizabeth; Mark McLaughlin, 22, otherwise called ‘China’ of Telephone Close and Leighton Barnaby, 22, otherwise called ‘Tippy Man’ of Happy Valley Close, both in Gregory Park in the parish.
The Constabulary Communication Network (CCN) 8:00 pm, residents heard explosions in the Darmouth Avenue area and summoned the police. On the arrival of the lawmen, Johnson’s body, which had gunshot wounds, was found on the roadway. The scene was processed and the body removed.
In the second incident, which took place about 8:30 pm, reports are that McLaughlin and Barnaby were aboard a motorcycle in Caymanas Gardens when explosions were heard. The police were alerted and when they got to the scene, the bodies of both men were found with gunshot wounds. The scene was processed and the bodies removed to the morgue.
Detections from the Caymanas police station believe that the Caymanas Gardens incident is gang-related. They have taken three persons into custody, whose identities are being withheld pending further investigations.
