A policeman is counting his blessings after he was stabbed in his neck by an irate female student at a St Catherine-based high school on Monday.
Reports from the police are that about 2 p.m., the district constable was on duty at the school. It is understood that the teenager whom he had earlier reprimanded crept up to him and stabbed him on his neck.
The policeman collapsed and was taken to the Spanish Town Hospital where he was admitted in a serious condition. The juvenile was subsequently arrested and charged with wounding.
The Star was informed that the district constable is attached to the Safe Schools Programme and has been at the school for sometime now.
Meanwhile, senior police personnel at the St Catherine North Division said the incident is isolated, therefore the programme will continue.
Several schools in the division fall under the Safe Schools Programme, which set out to instil discipline in the students.
