A 19-year-old woman charged with unlawful wounding after she allegedly used a drinking glass to hit her uncle in his face causing wounds to both his eyes had her bail extended when she appeared in court yesterday.

She is Tamika Jacques from a Kingston 11 address.

Jacques is to return to court on June 16 when the matter is set for mention.

Allegations are that on July 18 of last year, the complainant was at home when he saw his niece and asked her to return his lighter and $50.

It is further alleged that she started behaving boisterously that led the complainant to grab hold of her. She then freed herself from his grip, boxed him in the face and ran off.

The dispute seemingly didn't end there because sometime later on the said day, the complainant was hit with a glass in his face.

When the matter was called up in court, the accused told the court that she had made a report to the police but had decided not to press any charges against her uncle because it was a family matter.

She told the court that her uncle kicked her in the back and side even though she was pregnant.

The complainant told the court that he would like to be compensated in the amount of $250,000. However, Senior Resident Magistrate (RM) Judith Pusey said that she could not grant the request because based on the evidence and the statements given he was not sure if it was his niece who had flung the glass that caused the injury.

RM Pusey told the complainant to bring any eyewitness who could assist with the case on the next mention date.
