COMMISSIONER of Police Owen Ellington has warned cops who are off duty and drunk to stay away from all premises owned by the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), unless seeking assistance or a place of safety.
He issued the warning in this week's Force Orders.
"Members of the JCF are expected to be operationally fit for the commencement of any rostered or on call duty, and remain so, free of impairment by alcohol or any other form of drug. Members must not perform their roles and responsibilities, remain at work or undertake any police related activity if impaired by alcohol or drugs. This includes attending any training functions or seminars. The use of prohibited drugs and or non-prescribed drugs is not permitted at any time on or off duty," said Ellington.
