SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) — Officials in Jamaica are warning of heavy floods across the island due to the approach of a cluster of storms swirling in the Caribbean.
The Meteorological Service of Jamaica says heavy rains will continue until at least tonight.
The National Hurricane Centre (NHC) in Miami says the cluster of storms is located 100 miles (160 kilometres) south of Jamaica and has a 30 per cent chance of becoming a tropical cyclone. It remains nearly stationary.
The Centre also warned of mud slides in Haiti and the Dominican Republic, where one man died late Friday after his house collapsed.
