PATRICK Powell, the businessman who is accused of killing 17-year-old Kajheel Mais, was remanded when he appeared in the Circuit Court yesterday.

Powell was ordered to return to court on October 21 when the case will next be mentioned. More documents are expected to be produced when the prosecution next calls up the matter.

Attorney representing Powell, Patrick Atkinson, said he intends to file an application for bail in chambers at an appropriate time.

Powell is facing charges of murder for the shooting death of the Kingston College student on July 1, shooting with intent, and failure to produce a firearm for inspection.

Allegations are that Mais was shot and killed on his way to a fête at the Meadowbrook High School. The shooting occurred in Havendale after the taxi in which he was travelling crashed in the rear of a BMW X6 sports utility vehicle.

The police subsequently raided Powell's home in Belgrade Loop, St Andrew, and two BMW X6 vehicles were seized.
