TWO more men are expected to be charged jointly with deejay Vybz Kartel for the August 16 murder of Clive 'Lizard' Williams in Havendale, St Andrew. The revelation of the pending charges against the two was made when Kartel and co-accused Calvin 'Moonie' Haye appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court. The case against the two was set for mention on Thursday, by which time the other men are expected to be charged and joined with them in the defence box. One of the men was yesterday scheduled to face an identification parade.
Both Kartel — whose real name is Adidja Palmer — and Haye appeared subdued when their matter was being mentioned before RM Georgianna Fraser. Kartel — dressed in white shirt, black pants and a dress tie hanging loosely around his neck — and Haye, decked in a grey and polka dot shirt, with matching pants were brought in court cuffed to other inmates. Attorney Tom Tavares-Finson, who along with Michael Deans appeared for the men yesterday, told the court that Haye's name has not been mentioned in any of the statements that he has in his possession and that the prosecution will have to explain on Thursday why he had been arrested. According to the police, Williams was killed in Havendale over an illegal firearm. His body has not been found.
Kartel is also facing charges of murder, conspiracy to murder and illegal possession of a firearm in relation to the shooting death of Barrigton 'Bossie' Bryan, who was shot and killed as he stood among a group of persons at Gregory Park in Portmore, St Catherine. Kartel is to appear in the Gun Court Division of the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday when it will be determined if he will be offered bail in relation to that murder charge.
